What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is the original term coined by Dr. Andrew Tailor Still, MD (originator of the profession in 1892) for what now in the United States is commonly referred to as the fully licensed physician and surgeon profession of Osteopathic Medicine. Within Osteopathic medicine’s formal medical training, the philosophy and practice of distinctive palpatory diagnosis and treatment are referred to as Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. (see Introduction to Osteopathic Medicine video for more information)

I specifically define the specialty practice of Osteopathic philosophy, diagnosis, and treatment methodologies of hands-on Osteopathic manipulative medicine - as the practice of traditional Osteopathy.
